"Three Cups of Tea" Book Talk, March 13 at Walla Walla Public Library

The New York Times bestselling book, “Three Cups of Tea: One Man’s Mission to Promote Peace One School at a Time,” will be the focus of a book talk and illustrated presentation at the Walla Walla Public Library, Thursday, March 13 at 7 p.m. The book chronicles the mission of Greg Mortenson to build schools in remote parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan

Long-time area residents, Larry and Terrie Aamodt have traveled in areas mentioned in the book. “This past summer, while reading the book,” Terrie explained, “we were happily surprised to watch the story unfold in the regions where we had traveled and to see some of the people we had met appear from the pages of the book.”

The Aamodts will talk about the geographical and historical context of the book and show images of the region and its people. They serve on the faculty of Walla Walla University, where Larry is a professor of engineering and Terrie is a professor of history.

The book talk is part of a month-long series of activities focusing on peace themes during March. The Walla Walla Public Library is located at 238 East Alder in Walla Walla.
