March of Peace
Inner Peace, Family Peace, Community Peace
March 22, 2008 -- Finding Peace after Surviving the 1983 Civil War in Sri Lanka
Finding family peace amidst unspeakable atrocities of war will be the topic of a mother-daughter conversation Saturday (March 22) at 7 p.m. at the Walla Walla Roastery.

Nelita Davamony-Crawford of Walla Walla and her mother. Padmini Davamony, will share a conversation on how the 1983 riots in Sri Lanka affected their family.

Padmini lived through unspeakable violence to find an inner peace that she is now able to share with others.  Nelita, a young child when she left Sri Lanka, will share information about the history of political and social unrest in Sri Lanka.  Both women will discuss the importance of passing on peace to the next generation.

This presentation is part of the “March of Peace,” a series of peace-related events planned during the month. This event is free and open to the public. The discussion will be presented at Walla Walla Roastery, 290 A Street (near the Walla Walla Regional Airport).
